"We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting".

I was raised in Maryland and began my artistic journey in earnest in high school, studying at the Maryland College of Art and Design in the summers. I furthered my art studies during my college years at East Carolina University in North Carolina. Since then I have attended numerous workshops throughout the country with notable artists and studied internationally at the Moulin de Perrot atelier in the south of France.
I paint mainly in oils and am drawn to a variety of subject matter from landscape to figurative and floral; they all captivate me. I believe that painting from life is essential to the very soul of the painting. Another essential tenet to the success of any painting is to find and establish a good, solid and strong line drawing and composition; only when this is established can we advance onto the next stages of the painting.
I was the founder and director of the Hummingbird Cottage Art Centre in Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas (2013-2017). At the arts center, we regularly held classes and workshops geared to both adults and children, bringing in foreign and local instructors, hosting lectures and gallery openings to showcase works. Hummingbird Art Centre was indeed a unique and visionary place, helping to provide greater appreciation of the arts to visitors and within the small island community as well as extending beyond to the greater surrounding cays of Abaco. The gallery was selected by the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas to showcase a retrospective show of the notable native Bahamian artist Amos Ferguson in the spring of 2017.
My painting journey continues, and more recently I have been working at the Chelsea Classical School in New York City and in my home studio primarily concentrating on studio and figurative work.
